We'll be honest, we weren't entirely sure how we felt about having our own personalised butler on our Silversea cruise. We mean it sounds fantastic obviously but would it be a bit awkward, do they live in the wardrobe, should I clean the room before they come in, what do you mean they'll unpack my suitcase...even my socks and undies...?? I mean we were nervous just thinking about it all! We know it's their job and we don't want to offend either...but how intrusive or awkward is it?
The message here is....relax! The butlers are great, friendly, warm, nothing is too much trouble and you can use them as little or as much as you like, they are not intrusive so there's absolutely nothing to worry about! Phew!
So, you effectively have a team of 2 looking after your suite and you should think of it like this - your room steward changes the bed, replaces the towels, generally keeps the room fresh, clean and tidy. The butler however helps you personally, helps to enhance your personal experience. So, that starts upon arrival into your cabin when the butler will go through which brand of toiletries you'd prefer, what drinks you would like in your minibar, explain how the various in cabin devices work, go through the pillow menu, explain the laundry options.
We suspect you'll use your butler most when it comes to ordering food to your suite for in suite dining. Here the butler will deliver the food to your suite, set up a dining table and serve you some beautiful food, morning, noon and night...quite literally...in suite dining is available 24 hours a day! Perfect to have a champagne breakfast on your veranda as the sun rises or those midnight nibbles when you return to your suite!
In short, you'll quickly adjust and find our just how valuable they are to further enhance your cruise experience.
