So we're sure like us you've been glued to social media in following all the coverage from Southampton this weekend as MSC Cruises #Bellissima launched with much fanfare! From Holly Willoughby to Craig David , Andrea Bocelli to MSC's own Antonio Paradiso 😉 the stars were out in force to launch the new flagship to the MSC fleet!
So rather than rehash all you'll have seen, enjoyed and loved about the #BeautyAtSea that is Bellissima lets see what we actually learned (and you might have missed) about MSC this weekend...
1, NEW CHARITY! MSC announce new charity partnership with Reuben's Retreat - Reuben’s Retreat is a charity that was born in memory of Reuben Michael Graham who tragically passed away in August 2012, aged just 23 months to help families walking a similar path! This after it was also announced that their work for UNICEF has raised almost 10 million euros!
2, NEW PARTNERSHIPS Kings of the partnership given their partnerships with the likes of LEGO, Chicco and Swarovski amongst many others MSC have announced a partnership with celebrated French Chef Raymond Blanc. So next time you step onboard you can enjoy a dish designed by the Michelin starred chef!
3, GRATUITIES NO MORE? After recent uncertainty around how MSC will treat gratuities it was revealed that the sometimes controversial charges will now be rolled into the cruise fare. So not marketing as free gratuities but it looks like MSC are going to join the likes of Marella Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, P&O Cruises and Virgin Voyages in doing away with gratuities altogether! This will happen from 2nd April 19!
4, ULTRA LUXURY FLEET - NEW BRAND TO BE LAUNCHED! You may have missed it but MSC are launching 4 boutique luxury ships. It's now been announced that these ships will be all suite and veranda affairs! These will be part of a brand new brand within the MSC group, not MSC, not Yacht Club so watch this space. These ships will launch from 2023!
5, NEW SHIP TO UK... OR IRELAND? 😉 A brand new ship to come to UK in 2021?? MSC have confirmed that a ship will homeport in the UK in 2021 and also stated that a new ship will homeport sooner or later...with lots of UK & Ireland friendly features on board Bellissima and given the launch in Southampton this weekend will Bellissima be back in this part of the world in 2021? Maybe... now if we can just get MSC to homeport in Dublin or Cork for a mini season we'd be very happy.... are you listening Antonio Paradiso, Steve Williams? 😉😍
