On Thursday Princess Cruises Royal Princess arrived in Dublin Port for it's latest visit of this record breaking 2018 cruise season in Ireland. This time however was different as this time our competition winner Karen Williams stepped onboard a Princess ship for the very first time.
Having cruised with NCL and P&O before this was a chance to compare what life is like onboard Princess versus the other 2 cruise lines. Quite a day was put on by Matt, Claire and the wonderful team in Princess.
After embarkation was coffee and pastries in Crooners bar to help settle in before an exclusive backstage tour of the theatre, getting to see exactly what life is like performing and working in a cruise ship theatre. With millions of euro's worth of lighting, staging, costumes and props it's quite an eye opener.
Then on with the tour around the ship, taking in the spectacular classic atrium which is the heart of the ship and of course, given the lovely sunny weather plenty of time up on deck around the spacious pool areas and the welcoming Sanctuary. There was a stop for pizza, not just pizza, the officially awarded number 1 pizza at sea mid morning....because...well...it's hungry work touring a ship and Princess wanted to make fully sure their guests knew just how good the food offering was onboard.
The tour continued taking in the many bars, lounges, restaurants and the Seawalk with Matt giving a revealing insight into life onboard and why guests 'Come Back New' when they've taken a Princess cruise. After all the walking, after taking everything in Karen and her partner were treated to a delicious 3 course lunch in Sabatini's. (if there was any room left!!)
Eventually it was time to disembark, always the worst part of any ship visit...but having spoken to Karen, and she can tell you herself, it seems like a fabulous time was had. It's a different experience to NCL for sure, some similarities with P&O but as Karen has herself said...the food was better on Princess, they got the impression there would be more space around the ship than the Britannia & the Epic and the sheer amount of deck space, pool areas they loved. In fact it was such a good experience it "feels like I've been on holiday"!
So, the ultimate question - having been on board Princess for a day...would they consider booking a Princess cruise? "If the price was right, the itinerary right....defintely!!"
That's what we thought.... isn't it YOU thought about Princess Cruises for your next cruise?
Thank you so much to Karen, to everyone who entered the competition and to Princess Cruises for giving us all this opportunity. We can't thank you all enough.
