Earlier this week details started to emerge from Royal Caribbean regarding the forthcoming Spectrum of the Seas.
Royal are not resting on their laurels, after all, it's barely weeks since we had the relaunch of the impressive Independence of the Seas with Mariner of the Seas also going through the Royal amplified program with $120million being spent on her for release later this year.
But next April we'll see Royal's latest ship, the all new Spectrum of the Seas. We've had Harmony, we've just had Symphony but this is not an Oasis Class ship, this is not even a Quantum Class ship...this is a brand new class - welcome to Quantum Ultra Class. So what do we know and what did we find out?
Well, we already knew that Spectrum was set for the Asian market but unlike the Norwegian Joy which is so specific to the market that you can only book in Asia, Spectrum will be open to everyone to book.
This week we found out that Spectrum will make her maiden voyage on the 18th April 2019 crusing from Barcelona to Dubai over 16 nights as part of a 51 night 'Global Odyssey' across 13 countries but split into sectors so you can do smaller elements such as the initial 16 night inaugral sailing. (At time of print an interior was starting at €1609 so just €100 a night!!! with a Balcony starting at €1989....not that we've looked already....several times.....anyway.....)
If you've been on Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas or Ovation of the Seas then you'll have experienced Quantum Class...think North Star pod that goes 300 feet high above the ship, Ripcord sky diving, the seaplex complete with bumper cars and the interactive robotic performances at Two70 and we're pleased to see that these will all return on Spectrum. But as it's Royal, as this is Quantum Ultra and as this is tailored towards the Asian market you can expect new features, new twists and new things to experience.
Skypad will make an appearance, making the transition after a debut on Independence of the Seas. Wonderland is on board but with a twist; this is Wonderland Dadong an outpost of renowned Chinese chef Dong Zhenxiang. There's a new to fleet tea parlour / cafe called Leaf & Bean and Star Moment, a guaranteed popular addition for all guests...it's a brand new karaoke bar!
The ultimate family suite returns with a few new bells and whistles; this already incredible suite which was taken to the next level on Symphony of the Seas will have bathrooms which hang over the side of the ship and cinema rooms for your (up to) 11 guests. Of course the slide which takes you between decks remains for kids young and older.
We expect you'll see new entertainment offerings with new shows to be announced and much more over the coming months. Spectrum can be booked now though so let us know if we can help there in any way and watch this space. We'll bring you all you need to know!!
