So, we admit we're passionate about cruise but we get even more passionate (not angry or frustrated, just excited!) when someone says 'Cruising's not for me' when they've never tried it! We're on a mission to spread the news about cruise and make everyone as informed as possible about cruise, dispel all the myths such as 'it's for older people' or 'I'd be stuck on a ship with nothing to do for 7 days'... it still may not be for you but at least it's an informed decision!
So, this series of posts are there for you to share to friends and family who often come out with these myths...so you can set them straight! First up, brands on board...
There are a huge amount of recognisable brand names that you already know and love appearing on cruise ships as cruise lines speculate that these will not only attract people on board but make you feel at home as soon as you arrive!
Bars, Restaurants & Coffee Shops are on board every ship but if you're on Royal Caribbean you'd think you were on the high street as you sipped your favourite latte at Starbucks or sat down to a burger while the waiters dance and sing in Johnny Rockets! Have you ever eaten at Jamie Oliver's? You can do that in Central Park on board Royal's ships for example and maybe you'll go on to Ben & Jerry's for dessert on the promenade while the 80's party is kicking off! (Did you know there is a special Ben & Jerrys cabin on board ship with free ice cream? 😉 )
Do you love your celebrity chefs? There's plenty at sea! How about dining on Marco Pierre Whites dishes on P&O Cruises or have an Eric Lanlard afternoon tea. Olly Smith has a wine bar onboard P&O Britannia or perhaps try the exclusive and prestigious Nobu restaurant onboard Crystal Cruises? Except you won't have to worry about being on a waiting list for months when you dine on board ship (1 visit included FOC with your cruise fare!)
Fancy yourself as a chef yourself? You can cook with the chefs themselves on board P&O or if you love MasterChef or America's Test Kitchen then you can now be part of those shows on MSC Cruises and Holland America Line respectively!
Worried you'll miss all your favourite TV shows? Is it not better to be in them? Do, rather than see? You could make those red chairs spin on The Voice on Princess, dance the night away with the stars on BBC Strictly Come Dancing on P&O or take excursions and listen to talks with the BBC Earth team or Discovery Channel on Holland America Line & Princess Cruises.
Even the entertainment can provide an air of familiarity, not even mentioning the West End shows but MSC have brought Cirque du Soleilto the Seas, NCL have the famous Blue Man Group and built the only Cavern Club outside of Liverpools Cavern Club itself!
Worried about the kids? Don't be! Whatever their age there's quality branding everywhere, from Chicco for the little ones to the LEGOsponsored rooms on MSC, the DreamWorksTV characters appearing around Royal's ships (forget the kids, we're 1st in queue), with Hasbro Gaming & Dr. Seuss on board Carnival Cruise Line!
If you can't miss your gym routine then don't, with Technogym taking care of that onboard MSC or if relaxing is more your thing you maybe familiar with the Canyon Ranch Spa on several ships including Celebrity, Regent Seven Seas & Cunard.
And while you're taking this new way of holidaying you can tell friends and family back home in one of Celebrity's Apple iLounges...
We've not even mentioned the shopping.. Michael Kors boutiques anyone? Or Disney Cruise Line... who decided it's not enough to have an area on a ship so they built their own ships... 4 of them!!!
Cruise ships aren't strange places where you don't recognise a little of home or you have to do without the things you love and enjoy... Cruise ships are fresh (like Brennans Bread), current, for all ages, all groups, all interests,... and they're here today ready for you to explore and enjoy! You've just got to find the right one for you... we're here to help you!
Ps, unfortunately Brennan's Bread is not currently available on board but we could ask Celebrity if they can make it happen for next years home porting in Dublin!!
