Campaign against Dublin Port decision to turn away cruise ships from 2021 - All the latest here...
Dublin Port have announced that from 2021 they will restrict the number of cruise ships visiting to 80 and stop cruises from starting and stopping in Dublin. This brings Dublin Port back to 2010 levels of cruise activity preventing you options to step onboard in Dublin, costing the economy in excess of €50million plus and damaging the livelihoods of those that benefit from these visits - such as local transport suppliers, local food & beverage suppliers, local tour guides, local visitor attractions and much more!
While this is a decision by Dublin Port regarding Dublin but in reality this will affect the whole country...

In a bizarre move Dublin Port have removed several cruise related tweets and Cruise Dublin has disappeared altogether as a campaign.

Article repeats calls from several parties to Dublin Port to reverse it's decision to cut cruise ship visits from 2021 including from Fianna Fail's Dublin spokesperson John Lahart.
Dublin Port respond with plans for a new berth for 2026 subject to further investment and public consultation which is to include the cruise industry.

RTE - MINISTERS HOLD MEETING OVER REDUCTION IN CRUISE TRAFFIC AT DUBLIN PORT!

A spokesperson from Department of Transport Tourism and Sport has stated that efforts will be made to reduce any effect fewer Cruise Ships entering Dublin Port from 2021 will have on Dublin, it's retailers and ancillary businesses.
This comes as its revealed a meeting has taken place between representatives from Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland, the Port of Cork, Dublin Port, Shannon Foynes, the Galway harbour company, the Port of Waterford company and the Port of Belfast with Ministers Shane Ross and Brendan Griffin.
However newly formed All-Ireland Cruise Ship Action Group say they were denied access to the meeting despite "lengthy correspondence and numerous requests" to the Ministers office and Tourism Ireland.

Recently Dublin Port annouced that it would be severely limiting the number of cruise ships it will facilitate in the port for capacity reasons. Businesses who rely on tourists are not happy & have formed an association the All Ireland Irish Cruise Ships Action Group to challenge this decision.

Calls have been made by local residents to open Dun Laoghaire Port up to more medium-sized cruise ships. With the announcement that Dublin Port will be reducing the amount of cruise liners allowed to dock, some Dun Laoghaire residents are calling on the local council to up the amount of permitted cruise ships to berth at the harbour.
