Princess Cruises has announced it is preparing the 3,560 guest Regal Princess as the 2nd ship fully-activated with the Princess Medallion. All Regal Princess’ guests will have full access from February 17, 2019, during the ship’s current Caribbean season!

The Medallion is the same size as a 10p piece, is fully-automated and has no visible technology such as an on-off switch or charging function. Its features include:

  • A streamlined ship embarkation and disembarkation process, giving quicker and easier entry and exit

  • Keyless stateroom access

  • Enhanced interaction with crew members and other guests, e.g. staff can see guest’s individual food and beverage preferences and accordingly offer a more personalised service

  • OceanCompass, which provides interactive directions throughout the ship and allows guests to easily locate friends, family and children

  • Access for guests to a real-time look at their itinerary via portals throughout the ship, along with events and activities taking place during their cruise

  • Interactive games that can be played on portals across the vessel including trivia challenges and a ship-wide digital scavenger hunt

  • A selection of casino games including poker, bingo and roulette available via guests’ smart devices and select portals

The 3,140-guest Caribbean Princess was the first ship to have full Medallion access. It is based in the Caribbean all year round. The Medallion will continue to roll out as part of a phased fleet-wide activation plan with further announcements to be made in due course.

Princess Cruises have changed their traditional dining times! Because of overwhelming feedback requesting earlier dining times, they have adjusted their Traditional Dining schedule.

They are making the following changes to Traditional Dining times only:

For Traditional Dining, the new times are:
5pm - First seating
7:15pm - Second seating

There are no changes to Anytime Dining which runs from 5pm onwards. While this new standard will be in effect fleetwide, ships may still adjust dining times based on itinerary and guest demand. Guests can review or change their dining time by visiting their Cruise Personaliser via

In October Princess Cruise revealed their 2020 season in London - here's a recap of what they announced:

Now while there was no announcement on future Irish deployments...YET...there was lots of other exciting news! In 2020 Princess Cruises will have their largest ever European presence with 5 ships sailing across Europe! Not just any 5 ships either but their newest ships with the brand new Sky Princess (2019) and the brand new Enchanted Princess (2020) included alongside the beautiful Regal Princess, Island Princess and our favourite Princess ship due to her home porting in Dublin in 2019...Crown Princess!

2020 will be the biggest season for Princess in Alaska with 130 different voyages across any of 8 ships meaning 350,000 passengers will enjoy this bucket list location with Princess...the world's leading cruise line in Alaska. There will also be a huge focus on Japan sailing from either Tokyo or Kobe with 65 voyages on Diamond Princess as well as 16 voyages taking in Canada & New England on Sky or Ocean Medallion enabled Caribbean Princess!

There was final good news for the UK market in particular with the announcement that Enchanted Princess will have her naming ceremony in Southampton in 2020...7 years after Royal Princess was named there. Who knows we may even be lucky enough to be there and cover it for you... wink wink!!

As soon as we hear any news on future sailings from Ireland you'll be the 1st to know (we're hopeful...!!) but you can book 2020 cruises now with deposits from €58pp!!
